We extend our thanks to all users of the Eastbank building and Council offices who have been inconvenienced (by the closure to the corridors or on site noise) for your patience during the build.

CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS
• Works on the Art Museum are now complete. The building was
handed back to SAM staff on Friday 23 December as scheduled, with
further minor variations completed by Friday 13 January.
• The building has been sealed and the new climate control system
is running.
• External signage will be erected in the next two weeks.
• All paintings have been moved into the new painting store.
PROJECT TIME-FRAME
• The official reopening of the Shepparton Art Museum will be on Friday 17 February from 6.30pm. The Art Museum will reopen to the public with a Launch Party on Saturday 18 February, from 10am-5pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
IN THE MEANTIME, WHAT IS THE ART MUSEUM TEAM UP TO?
• Public programs staff Rhonda Chrisanthou and Angie Russi have
successfully delivered a six month Arts in Education Residency
Project, titled "Little Treasures", at Numurkah Primary School for
Arts Victoria. The students are now preparing for a 2nd showing of
their exhibition at the SAM reopening for all of the community to
attend.
• All works in the Indigenous Ceramics Art Award have been received
and judged by Tina Baum, Curator at the National Gallery of
Australia in Canberra. The winners will be announced shortly.
• Curatorial staff have begun to install six new collection
galleries and two temporary exhibitions: John Longstaff: Portrait
of a Lady and the Indigenous Ceramic Arts Award.
• Applications for the 2012 Sidney Myer Fund Australian Ceramic Art
Award are almost set to will close on 1 February 2012.
• Planning for our public Launch Party on Saturday 18 February.
Save the date - it is set to be an event to remember.
• A series of important new publications have been prepared and
will be launched at the reopening. These include MALKA, the first
book to focus on Indigenous artists of the Kaiela/Dungala region;
and a major new John Longstaff exhibition catalogue.
• Finalising the rebranding of Shepparton Art Gallery as Shepparton
Art Museum, including a major redevelopment to the website.
The SAM Pop up Shop and Information Booth is operating in the Eastbank Foyer Monday to Friday 11.00am to 3.00pm.
