- Building tenders closed on 28 January. Tenders are to be considered and awarded early February.
- Building site is to be ready for handing over to contractors by Monday 14th February.
- Discussion commencing regarding schedule and prioritising of works to be negotiated with successful tender.
- Other issues to be resolved including building access and security.
Current tasks being undertaken by gallery staff
- Communications going out to public in newspapers, mail-outs and bulletins.
- Seeking advice regarding OH&S Site Management in preparation for contractors coming on site.
- Program delivery for February through to August in planning, outside of gallery site.
- Relocation of gallery collection in readiness for site handover.
- Relocation of Gallery Shop in readiness for site handover.
- Planning in progress for the relocation of ground floor ceramic store.
- De-installation of current exhibitions and pack up of workshop room to take place from 7th February.
Major projects gallery staff will be undertaking during the redevelopment
While we will not be open to the public the Gallery Staff are going to be busier than ever before with the following significant initiatives, which we believe will make a fantastic impact on our operations when we do reopen.
- Shepparton Art Gallery to establish its Foundation, a Company
Limited by Guarantee for the purposes of raising funds for the
collection and a new Art Museum by 2020.
- Publishing of a comprehensive Shepparton Art Gallery Collection Catalogue.
- Publishing of Curriculum Based Education materials for School
Students and Teachers.
- Victorian Government Education Department Partnership Program
with Numurkah Primary School.
- Development of new Shepparton Art Gallery Stock which features
the collection and brand.
- Development of major exhibitions and publishing projects for
reopening and 2012, including Sir John Longstaff.
- Completion of Shepparton Art Gallery's renewed Acquisitions
